Species: Faerie. Alignment: Good. History/Personality: Personality: Gwendolyn is so full of life that it's almost sickening. There isn't a day that goes by that she isn't giggling because of something silly. She is the epitome of the term 'optimistic' and it's rare to ever find her in a particularly foul mood. She enjoys being happy and not having a care in the world, and while most of it can be contributed to the fact that she is, indeed, a faerie, she doesn't see it that way. She understands that her species probably enhances it, but she is truly under the impression that she is just naturally this way. She lives her life without any regrets and just wants to enjoy it and have fun, and if that means playing pranks on people? Then so be it. She has a mischievous nature about her and is often very cunning with her way of thinking. You might assume that she's just a giant child and only wants to play, but the chances are quite high that she has something else in mind and it will be much more than you initially bargained for when you agreed to play hide and go seek with her. Case and point? It's better to not give her all of your trust when agreeing to do something with her. But frolicking is not all that she is about, much to everyone's usual surprise. In fact there are many other layers to her. Sure, she loves to giggle and run around but there are also times in which her emotions get the best of her. She is not immune to the effects of hormones and being female. She understands feelings and although she tries her absolute hardest to push them aside when they attempt to consume her, even she falls victim to them a lot of the time. She cries and she feels pain and heartache - she just doesn't let anyone witness these acts of weakness for it is simply one more thing to be used against her in the long run. She tries her best to live among the humans without them being too aware of her, but sometimes it is just too difficult to do. There has been one particular case in the past in which she got far too close to a male and although she desperately wanted to start a relationship with him she simply couldn't. He would become dizzy and giggly whenever he was with her for too long of periods of time, and eventually she had to make up an excuse as to why she could no longer see him. It is for this particular reason that she tries her absolute hardest to not become too close to people who are not of her kind - it will only end in heartache if she does. History: Unlike the majority of faerie children, Gwendolyn was not given up for adoption. Both of her parents came from the same blood and they simply could not bear to part with their only child. Her mother was intent on living among the humans like any normal family would have, and so they did. Gwendolyn Elena knew nothing else of the world except for the love and affection that her parents showed to not only herself but to each other as well. Even as a little girl she was beautiful. She had curly brown hair and matching bright eyes. She was always smiling and giggling, and running around once she learned how to walk. It was around the age of five that Gwendolyn finally realised that she was, in fact, different. Her wings began to make more of an appearance and it took the young girl quite a long time to learn how to properly control and hide them within her back. It wasn't until she was nearly twelve that she could conceal them flawlessly, and it was then that her parents finally agreed to let her attend public school. They had home schooled her to the best of their ability for the majority of her young life, and the prospect of mingling with other children who age that were normal was just far too tempting for the young faerie to resist. She made friends easily enough, and although they didn't necessarily appreciate the pranks that she pulled on them every opportunity that she received, she still had them and was even invited to a group sleepover. Her mother was concerned, of course, but Gwendolyn insisted that it would be just fine. She just didn't count on glowing pink in the middle of the night and nearly waking up the girl sleeping closest to her. She had to force herself to stay awake for the rest of the evening and left early the following morning. She realised then that it would be dangerous for her to become close to any one person and she did a fairly good job at this for awhile. Until she turned sixteen, that is. It was her junior year of high school and the big homecoming dance was quickly approaching. There was a young man that had been particularly interested in her and she couldn't deny that he was attractive. It took him nearly three weeks for him to finally invite her to attend with him and she accepted, unable to resist his charm. That night had easily been one of the best of her entire life, and yet she couldn't handle it when he became too giggly with her. She hated having that effect on someone that she was truly interested in, and she had no choice but to put an end to it. She couldn't ever allow herself to get close to anyone like this ever again. While Gwendolyn would always run around the school and even ended up joining the cheerleading squad when she was a senior, she graduated from the school without bothering to keep contact with any of them. It was easier this way. But what happened next was something that she hadn't been anticipating, something that she never thought she would have to experience. She arrived back at her family's small home after taking a walk to the park only to find that something was off when she got there. She slipped quietly inside only to find a vampire dropping her mother's body to the floor, drained of all life and colour. Her father ambushed and grabbed a hold of her to pull her out of the house. The grief that followed the murder of her mother was awful, and it took her quite some time before she was able to actually feel like she could even breathe again. It was the first time that she was aware of the true evils in this world, the kind that didn't care about your feelings or if it hurt you. She vowed to never be like that. She is currently living with her father in another small home that is a great deal away from the one in which her mother had died in. Sometimes she'll stroll by just to look at it, but she always has to run back home in fear that the vampire who did it is still there just waiting for her to return. Request Membership: Done! |
